About Us

Xenia Tran MA (Appl Ling) BA (Hons) French
Founder Director

Xenia was born in The Netherlands to a Frisian father and German mother who taught her to communicate in Dutch and German like a native speaker. With two mother tongues she was quick to learn additional languages and help others in cross-cultural communication.

Xenia has been a permanent resident in the UK since 1987 and held multi-lingual positions in the not-for-profit, the public and the corporate sector. She attained a BA (Hons) Degree in French Studies and an MA in Applied Linguistics from Birkbeck College, University of London. Her MA dissertation explored the influence of power and gender on conversational flow in coaching dyads.

She trained in coaching, neuro-linguistic programming and therapeutic skills and offered pro-bono sessions on a part-time basis for three years before launching a full-time therapeutic practice in 2000. Her reflective and creative writing helped her to evolve both professionally and personally and several of her non-fiction articles and poems have been published.

In her practice she offered training as well as coaching and the emphasis soon returned to helping individuals and teams develop their communication skills. She works with individuals in new managerial positions, people going through a major career change and teams of professionals working with vulnerable clients.

She founded Holistic Linguistics in 2006 and the interest in its approach to communication and people development has enabled her to expand into new areas in 2007. She is skilled in creating community within teams and dedicated to helping people communicate with clarity and confidence.

Xenia is based in Cumbria and works throughout the UK and Ireland.
